In my Alice In Wonderland Collection I’m searching for a balance between old things and new design. I process vintage tea sets and recovered “service de café récupéré” from the abandoned Manufacture Royale La Louvière Boch into new sculptures. All five “Pièces Uniques” with a flavor of mass-production.
Sometimes I put my work on hold, a piece remains unfinished, but a few weeks, months or even years later, the ‘finishing touch’ appears. Some works appear to be on the edge of collapsing while others actually balance in equilibrium.
Often I enjoy experimenting with techniques and materials. I use fine fire clay, china clay, refractory cement and glue, lead to achieve stability, nuts and bolts to fix parts together, and if necessary TEC7.
For me designing ceramics is all about emotion, whether it is the gratification during designing, the trail and error in the making process or the pleasure of seeing and touching my works.
